My new Invacare power wheelchair

Last month I finally decided on which electric wheelchair I wanted to buy and I sold my old electric wheelchair and bought a new one. I have been an electric wheelchair user for the past seven or so years and have had two electric wheelchairs in that period, the second one of which was an Invacare power wheelchair. The Invacare wheelchair that I had served me so well in that past few years and had given me so few problems and indeed so little to complain about that when it came to replacing it after five years it was not too difficult a decision to go for another power wheelchair from the same company.

The problem however was in deciding which model of Invacare power wheelchair to go for as they have expanded their range quite a bit since I last bought an electric wheelchair and it was quite chore to go through their range and decide which electric wheelchair was right for me. My previous power wheelchair was an indoor model and I had wanted something that was fit for outdoor use as I had started to go to the park with my electric wheelchair and it was just not up to task of being driven on grass and on the road.

I decided that I needed something that was a lot more heavy duty in its construction and something with a much higher capacity motor as well. As a result I realised that I would be buying a much more expensive model than the one I owned and thus I wanted to be sure that I bought the right model.

Luckily I found a power wheelchair that seemed just perfect for the use I had in mind for it. Unlike my previous three wheeled indoor model this one had four large wheels with thick road tires on them and a very powerful three amp motor which was about twice as powerful as the one I had in my old electric wheelchair. It also had two batteries which would mean that it had a much longer range. All in all even though I paid close to two thousand US Dollars for my new electric wheelchair I am quite satisfied with my purchase as I think it will easily last a few years with ease and should be well worth the money.

How to Properly Treat Social Anxiety and Shyness

The description of social anxiety can be broken down into a base fear. This fear arises when interactions with other people occur. The individual who experiences anxiety may believe they are being judged by others.

People who believe they are being judged, often feel the other people view them in a negative manner, which can lead to feeling inadequate or embarrassed. The term “social” is applied when the anxious feelings arise only around other individuals and not when the person is alone.

This particular disorder is more common than most people think. There are millions all over the world who experience this condition, who are dying to get over social anxiety, but do not know how.

While the condition is wide spread, the treatment is also readily available. The best way to treat this condition is by creating behavioral changes. This type of therapy includes cognitive reasoning so the individual can learn to see themselves in a new light.

This disorder is not something that will be cured overnight. It takes persistence and effective use to instill new perceptions into the person’s behavior patterns.

Through therapy, the brain wave patterns can be changed so the person with the anxiety will experience reduced levels. The treatment will include training the brain to think differently and getting the person to see themselves in a positive manner when viewed by others.

This particular disorder or condition is one hundred percent curable. Anyone who experiences the symptoms of anxiety in social settings can seek treatment and in time, have their condition totally managed.

When looking for a qualified therapist it is important to ask questions about the treatment they offer. It is also important to state how you feel and make sure the therapist understands what you experience.

There are situations where minor degrees of feeling judged or scrutinized by others occur in a normal and healthy relationship. The difference between a healthy outlook and an unhealthy one, is that it does not alter the way a person lives their life.

The Good Samaritans In Homeless Centers

Over millions of people worldwide are homeless.  You can start doing your part to help them right at your town.  There are several homeless centers that need volunteers and donations to help feed and clothe the homeless aside from providing them shelter and jobs.  We can also start educating ourselves about how to deal with people who needs assistance since their other needs are not physical.  Help for homeless people is needed especially when it comes to their emotional needs.  Individuals who have gone through a lot of challenges in their lives can easily breakdown.  Perhaps one of the reasons why some have even succumbed to this state is that they have found no hope even within themselves.  Give back to society by understanding their condition.

Medical professionals and even blue-collared working classes do volunteer jobs in homeless centers aside from cash donations.  There are small business owners who even hire these individuals to help them get back on their feet instead of just waiting for food and clothing to be given to them.  Other professionals also offer their counseling services to help them regain their sense of being.  This is a good way to help for homeless individuals who have emotional problems.  People who are homeless need someone to talk to who can alleviate their suffering by giving them sound advices.  It may be hard coping with life in this time of financial distress but a person whom they can share and release their frustrations with can help them get back their will to do more.

Homeless centers are not just venues where the homeless can get freebies and have a good sleeping space.  These centers offer help for homeless individuals by helping them be good citizens through being productive.  Volunteers in these homeless centers do not teach the homeless to be dependent but they teach them to be self-sufficient.  There are means to get them back on their feet but they would need your assistance to guide them to the right course.  Counselors even offer financial advice to help them manage their finance well in the future.  Some people may just really need more time to get back up but they can do this much faster with your help.

How You Can Help The Homeless In Your Own Little Way

It is not everyday that we take the opportunity to help the homeless but there are simple ways that we can help the poor without giving cash.  Most of the homeless people take the availability of recyclables as their means of living.  As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.  The things that you consider garbage are actually means of earning a decent amount of cash.  Other people leave recyclable bottles, newspapers, and cans for the homeless to pick up.  This is one of the best ways you can alleviate the situation of the homeless while taking care of the environment.

Another way to help the homeless is to give clothing that you do not use anymore.  There are countless of organizations that accept good condition used clothing which they distribute to the needy.  The next time you might think of a garage sale or do spring cleaning, help the poor by setting something aside for them.  You need not donate money if you do not feel doing so but there are more ways you can help the homeless even with simple gestures such as doing volunteer work at a soup kitchen or perhaps sharing your job talents to those who are interested to train for a profession.  There are a lot of organizations who are into this kind of activities as well as charitable institutions that have been around for several decades.

And in your own little way, you can help the homeless by just simply being able to understand their situation.  Sometimes people immediately judge them for being lazy and reckless.  Some would even blame them for putting themselves into this situation.  However, the best way you can help the poor is by being more open to what they may have gone through.  The global financial crisis had made things harder for everyone and there are millions of people who used to have decent jobs who unexpectedly lost it.  Not all bad financial situations are caused by being reckless and carefree.  We just need to know their side of the story and help them by having a deep understanding of their situation.
