My new Invacare power wheelchair
Last month I finally decided on which electric wheelchair I wanted to buy and I sold my old electric wheelchair and bought a new one. I have been an electric wheelchair user for the past seven or so years and have had two electric wheelchairs in that period, the second one of which was an Invacare power wheelchair. The Invacare wheelchair that I had served me so well in that past few years and had given me so few problems and indeed so little to complain about that when it came to replacing it after five years it was not too difficult a decision to go for another power wheelchair from the same company.
The problem however was in deciding which model of Invacare power wheelchair to go for as they have expanded their range quite a bit since I last bought an electric wheelchair and it was quite chore to go through their range and decide which electric wheelchair was right for me. My previous power wheelchair was an indoor model and I had wanted something that was fit for outdoor use as I had started to go to the park with my electric wheelchair and it was just not up to task of being driven on grass and on the road.
I decided that I needed something that was a lot more heavy duty in its construction and something with a much higher capacity motor as well. As a result I realised that I would be buying a much more expensive model than the one I owned and thus I wanted to be sure that I bought the right model.
Luckily I found a power wheelchair that seemed just perfect for the use I had in mind for it. Unlike my previous three wheeled indoor model this one had four large wheels with thick road tires on them and a very powerful three amp motor which was about twice as powerful as the one I had in my old electric wheelchair. It also had two batteries which would mean that it had a much longer range. All in all even though I paid close to two thousand US Dollars for my new electric wheelchair I am quite satisfied with my purchase as I think it will easily last a few years with ease and should be well worth the money.
